Good morning fellow Netters!

I need clarification and assistance on what is permissible with music.
Our Broadcast class is looking for music to use in their weekly
broadcast. Currently, they use Apple's iLife suite to produce the
broadcast, including Garage Band. As I understand it, it is permissible
to use music from Garage Band. What we are running in to is students
want to upload their own cds into iTunes or purchase music from iTunes
to use in the broadcast. This would be a copyright violation correct? In
their minds, the music is lawfully obtained so they should be able to
use it any way they want. I don't think the Fair Use standards apply
because they are using more than just clips of songs. I also think there
might be problem since the broadcast is televised for the entire school.

Along the same lines, we are looking for a source to obtain music for
the broadcast. If you know of a reasonably priced source, we'd love to
take a look at it. At this point, everything they've sampled hasn't been
"edgy" enough.

Thanks in advance, and I'll post HIT if there is interest.
