I've been reading all of the posts about Lucky and following the links
that have been posted to various newspaper articles, etc. The link to the
discussion on NPR got me to thinking about the key issue for me.

Will my students read and enjoy this book? I know some of you already have
received copies of it, especially if you use Junior Library Guild. Have
any of your students read it and did they like it? (If not, it wouldn't be
the first Newbery winner to sit on the shelf!)

It may be too soon to ask, but I really need to read it (it's on hold at
my public library) and get some answers to this question before I spend my
hard-earned money (book fair) to buy it.

Thanks for your help. Your answers to this question will do far more
toward helping me decide whether or not to buy it than how anyone feels
about the now infamous word.
