Here are the relevant suggestions I received for help with the book that
had obscenities written on the outer edges of the text. What worked for
us was sanding the edges. The other suggestions did not help the text
book - possibly because of the type of glossy paper.

-try bleach with a cue tip, Clorox bleach pen

-De-Solve-It found in Highsmith Catalog

-Highsmith ($9.99) graffiti remover

-If you can't get the words to completely come off, you may have to take
a

marker and cover the entire edge. We had a book like that and that was
our

last resort - it did cover the residue. Of course, all the rest of the

students new what had been on the side of that particular book. I
have it

here in the library to be used as an extra for those who need to use it

during study hall. Also, we charged the student for the textbook.

Many suggested we make the kid pay for it, but we have no idea who had
it out so that, while it would have been my preference, can't happen.
