Original Message: I'm interested in creating a podcast, so that middle school students in another state can view it. I need a web service to upload the video. I was thinking of YouTube, but I'm not sure if introducing/exposing them to You Tube in an educational setting is okay. Do you have any recommendations on other places where I can upload my video? Responses: That is what iTunes is for...and much more search friendly than YouTube....available for both platforms...and perhaps not as likely to be blocked as YouTube could be. iTunes is a free download, and if you have a PC you will have to download iTunes on each machine. You do not need Youtube all you need is Quicktime they can then upload it from your site. You do realize podcast is voice and then you have to add the pictures, etc Take a look at http://my.videoegg.com/ I use Google Video because they have a box you can check so that it is not in their searchable directory. So far, it's worked great. I have started a library blog using Typepad. It costs me about 80.00 per year to purchase the space. I am going to begin podcasting (mostly audio) and this site supports that. The purchased space will give you more options and some support. I had used a number of free blogging sites prior to this. The paid site is much nicer. If time allows check out typepad.com. It might also support vlogging. Podcasts and video uploads are pretty brainless on a Mac. That's what we use to do our booktalks. With a .mac account and iWeb, it is pretty simple to host your own videos on the web, and avoid YouTube altogether. Thanks to everyone who responded.
