Here's a real-life riddle for you.

How do you know when your school system's Internet filtering might be just a
little bit out of control?

When you can't complete your Internet Safety Training Certification through
i-Safe because the firewall and/or proxy filter won't let you into the live
session, and the anti-virus system won't let you download Chapter 6 of the
asynchronous session because it's too large a compressed file (or too
compressed or something).

And I called our network guy several hours in advance to let him know what
I'd be doing and which port needed to be open, etc. He said it appeared to
him to be working. Oh, well good for him.

Sorry--It actually wasn't funny at all. Grrrr. (This is not to mention the
simultaneous tech problems for the teacher who needed to be videotaped doing
a lesson with the SmartBoard. While I was trying to get online with my
class, she was unable to get the video cameras off-pause or to log on to the
laptop computer. So, we have to re-do her lesson tomorrow.)

Oh well, tomorrow's another day. And that's my greatest fear!
