A new title is TOMORROW THE RIVER by Dianne Gray. (HOUGHTON MIFFLIN, 2006)

It's set in the late 1800's---strong female characters--a girl travels from
Nebraska by train to S.E. Iowa and is on a river boat from there to St. Paul. One
big part takes place in Prairie DuChien, Wisconsin which is close to where I live.
I learned a lot reading the book! It's perfect for grade 5!

Diane won AASL honors for an earlier book, HOLDING UP THE EARTH.
