At home it was an Apple IIe, I was living at my parents at the time.
About two years after I moved to my present location (20 years ago) my
mother loaned me the money to purchase my own computer, a Macintosh SE,
then she borrowed the computer from me for ten months.

At my present position there was an Apple IIe and a Macintosh SE (I
think that is what it was). The SE didn't have a hard drive but the
previous librarian had purchased an external one, with the installation
as part of the package. I had no idea what a hard drive was. When I
started here I was sure that the Apple IIe was the only computer that I
would ever need. How wrong I was.

I've been converted to the PC (Kicking and screaming) and that is what I
now have both at home and at work.

Subject: [LM_NET] Gen: Your first computer

In the news today was the announcement of the new terabyte hard drive.

This made me think about my first home computer -- an IBM compatible
Tandy 1000 which didn't even have a hard drive. It's stored in the
basement and for all I know it might still work. (Weeding is not my
strong point).

  What was your first computer?
