Hi folks,

I am replying to the list to Jamie's questions since they are good ones and
I should have addressed them in my initial email.

The job is not onerous (or an essentially lazy person like me would have
never have taken it on). There are 3 weekend-long board meetings a year in
various locations around the country - one in September, one in February and
one just before NECC. ISTE pays all expenses for attending these meetings
and one's NECC conference expenses. Outside the meetings, there are usually
one or two hour hour-long conference calls, reading and work on special
projects. Board members do have obligations at NECC as well.

The board oversees the ISTE organization by helping with goal setting,
policy issues and budgets. We evaluate the ISTE CEO.

I am not sure what Jamie means by "geographic restrictions" but we have
board members from across the US and from New Zealand at the present time.

I've found it to be a very rewarding experience. E-mail me directly if you
have specific questions.

All the very best,

Doug
