LM_NET Archive

As a member of Junior Library Guild, I got my copy of The Higher Power of
Lucky last week!
I knew by the cover it would appeal to many of my young avid female readers.
When I heard yesterday, I was glad the new Newbery was at the appropriate
level from my students (gr 3-5). I started reading last night and this is
the 2nd paragraph:

"Sammy told of the day when he had drunk half a gallon of rum listening to
Johnny Cash all morning in his parked '62 Cadillac, then fallen out of the
car when he saw a rattlesnake on the passenger seat biting his dog, Roy, on
the scrotum."

I confess I haven't read the rest of it yet, but this gets mentioned again
later in the chapter.
I know my teachers aren't going to want to do that vocabulary lesson!
Just wondered what you thought.
