I was reading this to a kindergarten class. You know, the one that goes "Hundreds of cats, thousands of cats, millions and billions and trillions of cats." At the beginning, the very old woman and the very old man are, we learn, very lonely. So the very old man goes looking for a cat for the very old woman. He ends up coming back home with hundreds of cats, thousands of cats, millions and billions and trillions of cats. One of the boys snorted and said, in a you-got-it-coming-to-you voice, "well, they're not lonely now." It was all I could do to keep reading and not burst into laughter. -- Johanna Halbeisen, Library Media Teacher Woodland Elementary School (K-4) 80 Powder Mill Rd, Southwick, MA 01077 JH@newsonglibrary.org -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
