That is basically what the video Epic 2014 predicts....

http://www.robinsloan.com/epic/

Everyone becomes a contributor to the "news"...and presents their own
viewpoints relating to the topic, rather an objective reporter...(a
great topic for journalism classes at every level). [This is a great
way to utilize those historical newspaper databases---to examine the
differences between writing styles of the different eras in print
sources and the writing styles of online sources / websites /
newspapers. How have editorials changed? How have human interest
stories changed? How are stories sensationalized both then and now?
What was "the most" trusted source of information among various print
sources and why? (Could those questions be answered?)

I've used the video as a springboard to examining the impact of a 2.0
world for freshman library orientation to examining online resources.
What happens when everyone has access to information that can be
changed immediately? What is the peer-reviewed process in pubication
and is it still valid today? What impact do we (as information
consumers) have on various information publications? Does information
become more accurate and refined, or is it just "fluff"?
