LM_NET Archive

I posted this to the TLC (Texas librarian's listserv), but there may
be Texas librarians who are only monitoring LM_NET, so I wanted to
catch them too. Here is my original question:

____________________________________________________

I've been searching (all morning) for a Texas-made lesson plan that
integrates library skills (information literacy), the subject area
TEKS, and the library-related TEKS into a complete project / lesson;
however, I'm not finding many online links / lessons that show all of
these components or don't provide enough information about the
project. I'm sure that there are probably lessons (in files and on
computers) that have some of these types of lessons, so I'm asking for
a volunteer....

Would someone volunteer a library lesson plan (at any level--ES, MS,
HS) that they have used (hopefully as a collaborative project with a
classroom teacher) that includes / may include:

---the subject TEKS (those TEKS covered by the classroom teacher)
---the library correlations to the TEKS (if possible---if you don't have
those, don't worry)
---the Information Literacy standards (IP2 standards---if you don't have
those, don't worry)

In addition, if you could give me the information about the grade
level, (any modifications that were made for different learners), the
subject, any research models that you used (such as Big6, etc.), and
copies of any additional resources that you supplied (such as a
rubric, note-taking pages, etc.), and if you had the delegation of
tasks created for each group (the teacher, the librarian, and the
student) I would appreciate it.

If you don't have anything additional, don't worry....however, if I
can talk with you via email about the project, it would be very
helpful to be able to add some of this information to your project.
(So, I just need a willing soul with a lesson that they'd like to
tweak and who might have some time to collaborate with me on ways to
make it work for you.)

What I want to do with your project is create an assessment component
that can be used by the librarian. This is not an "evaluation" of the
student project (such as the teacher assigning a final grade), but
rather a tool for the librarian to use to evaluate the learner and
what was learned during the project.

When I'm finished (hopefully in a week or so), I will return your
lesson to you with the additional resources that I've added. I'd also
(at that time) like your input on the additional materials and how /
if you would use them next time you work on the project.

Thanks for helping!!

~Shonda
