LM_NET Archive



All I can say is thank goodness - for those of you out there who recognize the 
amazing nature of these books.  Am I sorry the series is over?  Yes!  Anything that 
puts a book in a child's hand and gets him to read with that much enthusiasm is a 
miracle.  (And I absolutely love them myself.)
 
Yesterday, when I read several posts about LIBRARIANS who are glad the hype is 
over, I was surprised.  (OK, I will give you that Harry did get a little whiney in 
a couple of the books, but then he was a teenager.  Ever hear one whine?)  I just 
couldn't believe I was reading posts from people dedicated to encouraging children 
to read complaining that kids were standing in line to buy a book.  I just hope 
there's another series in the making right now that will keep this reading hype 
machine rolling.
