All I can say is thank goodness - for those of you out there who recognize the amazing nature of these books. Am I sorry the series is over? Yes! Anything that puts a book in a child's hand and gets him to read with that much enthusiasm is a miracle. (And I absolutely love them myself.) Yesterday, when I read several posts about LIBRARIANS who are glad the hype is over, I was surprised. (OK, I will give you that Harry did get a little whiney in a couple of the books, but then he was a teenager. Ever hear one whine?) I just couldn't believe I was reading posts from people dedicated to encouraging children to read complaining that kids were standing in line to buy a book. I just hope there's another series in the making right now that will keep this reading hype machine rolling.
