Perhaps it would be beneficial to invite school board members to library
conferences, with a special workshop for them on how they can improve school
performance through school libraries.  Granted, not everyone would go, but
by inviting and educating school board members they would take the
information back.  One school board member fired up about what librarians
actually do and can do through collaboration could create a positive ripple
to other board members.

Perhaps we should start inviting board members to
district meetings and library in-services for
teachers. I've always done them for parents - not many
show - but doing it for board members.......
If you have a sympathetic board pres or an effective
supervisor, it could even be part of a working
meeting.
