The Texas Library Association has done something like this for
administrators by holding a special conference workshop during our
regular TLA meeting each year. The speakers have been Gary Hartzell,
David Loertscher, Toni Buzzeo, etc.

I believe that every state library association should incorporate a
"stakeholders conference program" into their regular program each
year, if they aren't doing this already!! Nominations of those who
can attend can come from librarians within the districts, and it
should certainly be offered as an opportunity to showcase what
librarians are doing with those "much needed monies" that often seem
to be cut from school budgets.

I'd also like to see other programs for parent volunteers and
community partners at these statewide programs. The more we can
share what we do with those outside our own libraries, the stronger we
will become!
