Maybe: "What's Cooking @ the Library?" --- activities relating to new things happening in the library...new books, new programs, new people. "Recipes for Real Life" --- activities related to success in school, home, work, etc. (or academic success skills)--databases, if the students are older "Chemistry in the Kitchen" --- mixing up science recipes through library resources "Mixin' Up Math" --- using fractions, measurements, etc., using recipes for math "Cookin' Up Fun" --- highlight books from the 700's (hobbies, crafts, sports)---invite the PE teacher to participate in this one I keep thinking of some of the recent books that I've seen (at a bookstore) on children's cooking and some really "cool ways" to use these books with your theme. It would be fun to find some of the really OLD cookbooks (I have a few dated in the late 1800's) that describe how to make certain types of meals starting with the "execution of the chicken" in the hen house! What fun to share those types of recipes with students as a part of "history".....you can even incorporate the American Memories project into that one! Then there's the holiday activities that occur and the food-related topics that involve cooking. What a fun project! ~Shonda On 6/1/07, Pat Miller <pmiller@academicplanet.com> wrote: > Our school has adopted as our motto for next year, "Take it up a notch!" a > la Emeril and his cooking show.
