LM_NET Archive

Hello,

I'm a 16 year veteran of the classroom who will be a rookie librarian next
year in a brand new building. It's an amazing opportunity, but also can be
overwhelming. I thought I'd call on the collective wisdom of the LM_NET
group to help me. I am working on my technology order. I have a good sized
budget, but it's not unlimited. I'd like to create a technology wish list
that I could prioritize. Some of the items would be MUST haves for next
year, and other things would be items that would not be purchased at the
outset, but would be added later.

I'd love to know your thoughts on what technology items are absolute must
haves and what items do not get used often enough to warrant using my
budget this first year. I'd also be curious to know specific brands that
you recommend or that I should avoid.

I will have a SMARTboard, 17 OPAC stations and a TV installed in the
library. Those decisions are made by district level personnel. I need
ideas on peripheral items (digital camera, video camera, Elmo, etc.)

Any advice would be so appreciated. I'll be happy to post a HIT of the
information I receive.

Thank you.
