Hi,

I'm not sure who out there reads Salon.com but there's an interesting
discussion in the community forum The Well "How would Melvil Dewey
handle today's information overload?" on information access via tagging.
One person even waxes poetic on the serendipitous nature of the card
catalog and subject headings.

Anyway, I read it with interest after the demise of Dewey discussion
here got me thinking about the future of information organization and
"chaotic clouds of tags". It's really clusters of keywords replacing
hierarchical info structure. What role will we play? Will we eventually
teach tagging methods or structures to students instead of DDC?

Maybe a few information experts (us) should join the debate?
