Thank you all for your responses. I forwarded the info to the librarian and she thanks everyone for your help. This was my original post: The K-2 Media Specialist wanted to update the magazine collection in the library and was hoping to get some recommendations from those of you who work with this age group. Which titles do you find the students get the most out of and which ones are the teachers using? Also do you get Ladybug and Spider? Are they used by students and/or teachers? Below is the list of recommended magazines. The starred items are the ones that were mentioned the most. Disney Adventures* Big Backyard Nickelodeon National Geographic Kids* Zoobooks ** Highlights Ranger Rick * Discover Kids Jack and Jill Sports Illustrated for Kids* Owl Dogs for Kids The overall most popular magazine was Zoobooks. Each issue features a particular animal and gives info about the animal and pictures. Note to all: Zoobooks does repeat copies after several years but they have been known to issue an alternate when requested. Several schools mentioned that they have or used to have Ladybug and Spider and that there was not as much student interest in these titles in this age group. These two happen magazines are a little pricey at $60 a year. Thanks so much!
