SALARY: 51,112-$65,551,   100%

Minimum Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge,
skills and abilities required to satisfactorily qualify for the
position.

Knowledge of:
1. School Library Media Programs (K-12)
2. Library collection and maintenance
3. Library automated circulation systems (SIRSI)

Skills Required:
1. High comfort level with technology in its myriad forms 

Ability to:
1. Communicate with a wide variety of audiences and people with varied
experience levels and learning styles.
2. Coordinate meetings, activities, training, and events across the 90+
district schools.
3. Lead and motivate library media personnel.

Education and/or Experience:
Listed below are any combination of education and/or experience that
demonstrate possession of the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities. 
1. Equivalent experience, education, and training may be considered in
lieu of degree requirement. (To be used in conjunction with degree
requirement where experienced applicants would be acceptable.)
2. Master's degree in Library Science or related field required
3. Three years' recent experience as a public school librarian required.
4. Three years' experience as a classroom teacher preferred.
5. K-12 experience preferred.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Library Coordinator will provide leadership and 21st century vision
to librarians, K-12, and will work collaboratively with librarians, the
other curriculum coordinators, Library Resources, and Educational
Technology to implement the goals and objectives of the Six-Year Plan
for the Library Program. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Some incumbents
may not perform all the duties listed while in other cases related
duties may also be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to

1. Coordinate and guide the direction of the K-12 Library program
2. Maintain and evaluate the Six-Year Instructional Plan for the Library
Program. Provide effective leadership in developing, implementing, and
evaluating plans for a comprehensive, system-wide school library media
program. 
3. Facilitate the Library Advisory Committee and regular meetings of
librarians.
4. Coordinate and plan in-service, training, and other professional
development for librarians.
5. Support site librarians with program ideas, processing, collection
maintenance, budget development, and the online automation system. 
6. Provide mentoring to new librarians.
7. Maintain the standards, benchmarks, and performance indicators for
the library program.
8. Implement district policies and procedures including those of
materials selection, copyright issues, and challenged materials.
9. Coordinate with other curriculum coordinators to integrate 21st
century information literacy standards into core curriculum areas.
10. Research and disseminate current trends in library services and
delivery and best practice Information Literacy lessons to librarians.
11. Communicate and collaborate with public and academic libraries and
agencies to share resources that enhance the educational community's
learning environment.
12. Team with Educational Technology to assure standardization of
equipment and software and work with administration to move toward
equity of resources across programs and buildings.
13. Communicate the district's vision, goals, and priorities regarding
school library media programs to all stakeholders.
14. Serve as a resource to administrators, teachers, librarians,
students, and the community.
15. Coordinate and provide staff development in the use of information
literacy instructional resources and technology innovations for
librarians and other district personnel.
16. Coordinate library program activities with various departments for
implementation (Human Resources, Library Resources, Purchasing,
Information Technology, Educational Technology, Communications, Training
and Professional Developing, Instructional Divisions, etc.).
17. May perform other related duties as assigned.

Special Qualifications

Requirements that are unique to this position which are not listed
above.
1. Advanced knowledge and training in all phases of school
librarianship.
2. Knowledge of library automation systems and library technology
systems 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
1. Type C Library Certificate or Type A Certification with Librarian
endorsement required
2. Type B Certificate preferred
