I am a pre-service librarian studying at East Carolina University and currently a 7th and 8th grade classroom teacher. A question that often arises from teachers to our media coordinator is what short stories, books, etc. make good read alouds for middle school children ("good" meaning holds their attention for 5-10 min. each day)? Any suggestions?
