Although I did not post my message as a TARGET > HIT I have had several requests for the information. I received only one reply, which provided the information I needed. I was a teacher of the deaf before I became a librarian. While I can't give you specific date, ASL as spoken English, has become more PC in the past 15yrs or so. Signs for Asian and Blacks have changed since then. I would check those types of signs, or perhpas you can show the books to your spec ed or speech teacher in your school.
