I hope someone here can help this woman. The request: I was wondering if you could help me find an old book I read when I was about 10 years old. It may have been British, because the girl who lent it to me had just returned from England or Scotland. It would have been written before 1970. It was about a young boy (maybe 11 or 12) who moves to a new town and does not make new friends very easily. In his new house in the attic he finds an old bottle that contains a while, purulent lotion, which, when he applies one drop on each shoulder, per the directions, he sprouts beautiful angel-like wings and goes soaring over the town at night and see all kinds of things and also ends up helping people in trouble, who then claim they have been helped by an angel. At the end of the book, he finds that there is only a small droplet left. When he applies it to his shoulder, a large white feather falls down, which he saves. Afterward, he finds that he has grown in confidence and strength, and finds that he is able to fit in and make friends when school starts in the fall.
