I have accepted another position and my current position is now open. Details are listed below: The Episcopal Center for Children is located in the northern residential section of Washington, D.C. It is a non-profit, non-denominational institution for emotionally-challenged children with a professional faculty of forty. The student body consists of 60 children between the ages of five and twelve. We wish to recruit a media specialist/ librarian for our two year old media center. Job description follows: 1. Responsible for implementing an elementary school program for a special type of student which inspires a love of reading, promotes the integration of library studies into the children's work, offers a wide variety of material at age-appropriate reading levels and provides for an attractive, educationally stimulating environment. 2. Responsible for further development and maintenance of the collection including ordering, technical processing and classifying books. 3. Works closely with other teachers to provide needed resources. 4. Coordinates all library purchases and presents suggestions regarding necessary supplies and equipment to the supervisory staff member. 5. Instructs students and staff in the use of library and computers; establishes children's programs and story hours, utilizing volunteers as required. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. A master's degree in library science and/or information science from an accredited institution. 2. Directed field experience in a school library media center with an experienced media specialist or two years of successful teaching or one year of library experience.
