Hello everyone! As I am gearing up for my first year as a school library media specialist, I was wondering what all of you do to go the extra mile for your school administrators? I remember having a discussion about this is one of my classes, but I can't remember any details. Aside from providing library statistics and an annual report, what do you do that your principal really values? What kind of relationship do you have with your principal? Does he or she confide in you? Do you find yourself knowing things about what is going on within the school that other teachers don't know? How do you manage to stay neutral and not get caught up in school gossip? I guess I am concerned about school politics. I also want to have my actions prove how valuable a media specialist can be to the school. My principal already knows that collaboration with the classroom teachers is important, however I am wondering what I can do for my principal to make her job easier. I will post a hit if there is interest.
