I tried to send another message, but it got kicked out. trying again... Lots of replies!! Of course, I should have mentioned in my original post that academic libraries catalog and shelve fiction in the 800s, as so many wonderful LM_NETters have reminded me. But remember, this was in the category of 3rd grade reading. In my (limited) knowledge, I would guess not too many elementary school libraries (or public libraries for that matter) shelve their fiction in the 800s. So I thought it a bit surprising that all of the fifth graders would get the answer technically correct... Most adults don't know it! I wonder if many elementary LMS cover this when they teach Dewey? (I'm in a MS, so we don't do lessons on Dewey per se.) I thought it was terrific that they included a question on Dewey (to paraphrase from Spamalot: "it's not dead, yet!") -- I suppose I shouldn't be whining! We'd probably all complain if they put the answer the other way 'round, as well. I just thought that the wording was awkward and the whole explanation left out, so that viewers would end up more confused, rather than educated about Dewey.
