Let's brainstorm about book drops! Our new HS library will have a "slot" built into the outside wall (that goes to the hallway) for students to drop in items without really coming in the library. The "drop" will not actually be at the circ desk, but rather in a vestibule type area. I'm assuming this should lock so that sticky fingers don't pick up books that have been returned but not checked in yet. I'm guessing this drop will have to be custom built, but if you have anything like this and have words of wisdom, I would certainly appreciate hearing them. It would be nice if they fell into a closet with a door like they do here in my facility but that's not what it looks like on the plans. You all have such vast and varied experiences, that I appreciate hearing new ideas. I have browsed the typical library furniture catalogs but I haven't really seen anything like what I envision.
