Good afternoon, At the 2007 ALA Midwinter Meeting, the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) launched its first annual survey, School Libraries Count! to identify and track trends in school library media programs across the country. We know we need more and better data about our school libraries to advocate more effectively at all levels. While we have been thrilled by the volunteer response, the response rate from the random, stratified sample has been low. These respondents are vital to the survey! Without their participation, we will not be able to draw statistically significant national data. We need your help! Please participate in the survey and please help us get the word out to your colleagues! We designed the survey to be very brief, and the information provided will be used to develop advocacy materials for school library media programs. Schools in the sample received a letter addressed to "School Library Media Specialist," sent by RSL Research Group and signed by Cyndi Phillip on January 2, and received a reminder postcard next week. They can access the survey at http://www.aaslsurvey.org through Friday, March 16. Thank you! Katarzyna A.
