I posted the following questions on LM_NET about interviewing and here's
what I found (12 people responded):

Original question: Hi. I am looking for newly hired librarians to share
their interview experience(s) and tips. Here are a few questions you might
answer for me and please add any tips, suggestions, or otherwise good
advice. I am collecting these answers as part of an assignment for an
administration class

1) How many interviews did you have before landing the job? This
ranged from 1-8

2) Did the interviewer look at any of your work, either digital or
paper? surprisingly, most said no. One said most interviewers don't ask
for it, you should offer it.

3) What items did you leave with the interviewers? resume, writing
sample, favorable impression, work products, reference contact information,
transcripts

4) What was the hardest question, in your opinion to answer?

-How would you encourage staff to collaborate?

-Name 3 of your strengths and 3 of your weaknesses.

-If you walked into the copy room and a teacher was copying an entire
workbook for her whole class what could you do?

-How will you make the library the hub of the school?

-What kind of animal would you choose to be and why?

-What do you see as your role?

-Do you have any pet projects you would like to pursue in the library?

-If a parent comes in very upset over a book his/her child has out and
demands that it be pulled off the shelf right now, how would you handle it?

-How do you feel about parent volunteers?

5) Any questions that seem to be asked over and over (this would be if
you were interviewed more than once)?

-What kind of activities/lessons would you present to ----grade level?

-How would you work with reading teachers, science....?

-Vague questions on the theme of how one gets along with kids and the
administrators/parent's organization.

-What type of library program do you hope to develop?

-What type of collection do you hope to develop?

-How will you encourage boys to read?

-What is your comfort level with technology, discipline strategies?

-Tell me about a collaborative project that you have had with a teacher.

-What is your favorite book/author- and why?

-What are you currently reading?

Thanks to everyone who responded!!
