Dear colleagues,

Here is the information for workshops for the AASL 2008 conference.
Deadline:  May 21.

The American Association of School Libraries (AASL) invites proposal
submissions for half-day or full-day professional development programs to be
held during the 2008 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference.
Submissions will be accepted through Monday, May 21, 2007.



Be a part of this exciting professional development event - join other
school library media specialists and share your expertise in this national
forum showcase of best practices, developments, and ideas on the future of
school libraries.



As in previous AASL presentations, program content must address at least one
of the three areas of responsibility: Learning and Teaching, Information
Access, or Program Administration, as identified in Information Power:
Building Partnerships for Learning.



*HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR PROPOSAL*

Proposals should be submitted as an electronic form *only* to
kbishop@ala.org:



The deadline for submissions is *5:00 p.m. CDT, Monday, May 21, 2007* .



Proposals must include the following:

§          *Complete contact information for all speakers** *.  Please note
that the person submitting a group proposal will be considered the Program
Organizer and the main contact for the presentation.

§          *Presentation title*.

§          *Program outline**** .  The description should be approximately
300 words, should outline the main points of the program, its relevance to
attendees, and how you would incorporate at least one active learning
exercise in your session.

§          *Tentative program description*. This description should be
approximately 100 words. If your proposal is accepted, this description will
be used in promotional materials. Please include at least three learning
objectives

§          *Support of AASL Strategic Plan*. Outline how your program would
support the AASL Strategic Plan.  The AASL Strategic Plan is available
online at -

*At least three learning outcomes and how they will be achieved.*

*SELECTION CRITERIA*



 Proposals will be evaluated for clarity, originality, and timeliness*.
Special attention will be given to proposals that incorporate one or more of
these characteristics*:



* Demonstrate innovative thinking and/or new perspectives



* Present strategies for effectively implementing new ideas and technology



* Incorporate at least one active learning exercise



* Design includes activities that will incorporate various learning styles

* Demonstrate how learning outcomes would be achieved



* Support the AASL strategic plan
