Being on a fixed schedule doesn't mean you are safe from cuts. I was just called in to the administration office yesterday to tell me that my position is being looked at next year for a possible cut. I provide "release" time for teachers in two buildings - K-5. The sad thing is that a few years ago our high school librarian retired and she wasn't replaced. I became the "district" librarian serving 4 buildings K-12. I have no time scheduled to go to any other building as the two building fixed schedule that I have keeps me tied up all day. I shared my concern at the meeting last night that the district would have no librarian if my position was cut and was told that they understand my concern but from a financial standpoint they need to make cuts next year. The good news is that I would still have a job - I can bump into a classroom teaching position. However, I enjoy working in the library. And I'm good at what I do - I don't want to leave the library. It's hard to stay positive so you have any positive suggestions or thoughts I'll take 'em! Thanks for listening, everyone.
