Hi, all: We are having a lot of problems with the School Board here, to the point where our Assistant Superintendent, a wonderful and caring educator has resigned, and so has our Principal who is just as capable. This particular School Board has systematically bullied every administrator and teacher and fought us on all reasonable matters - such as getting a contract signed and paying us. As part of my collaboration with my fellow teachers, students and the community, I volunteered to research the duties and limits of the duties of school boards. So, my question is where would I find info on this subject? Are there any such duties and responsiblities as well as limits to their power that is delineated anywhere? Are there any accepted practices for School Boards or is it simply a free for all, with no checks and balances? I know that the voters have the last word, but my intent is to also educate the voters who may not know just what a school board should or should not do. Any information you can give me on this subject would be most appreciated.
