Please let me know if any of you know of a poem/song that this may have been copied from. It was submitted to me as an entry into a poetry contest by a third grade student. We've already had 1 confirmed case of plagiarism involving this contest and another third grade student, so I'm trying to be extra vigilant. It just sounds familiar to me but I don't know from where. I've googled a few lines, but have not found any leads. Thanks in advance for your help. There’s a hundred years of history And a hundred before that All gathered in the thinking Going on beneath his hat The cold flame burns within him As his skin is cold as ice And the dues he pays to get Is worth every sacrifice All the miles spent sleepy driving All the money down the drain All the ifs and nearlys All the bandages and pain All the female tears left drying all the fever and the fight just a small down payment on the ride he makes tonight It’s guts, love, and the glory One mortal’s chance of fame His legacy – rodeo, And cowboy is his name.
