Hi, I am posting this for a fellow teacher in my buildling who is working on a grad project. Thanks, Sara Greetings from Central Wisconsin. I'm in a grad class and a project I'm working on is creating a list of important literary texts students should read in high school and why. (I have to include my general critical philosophy as well.) These are texts that they should read and understand in order to become "well-educated citizens." I'd appreciate some input from you (if you have the time). I've compiled this list so far as a base. I'm especially interested in the why they should be read and how they help students to become "well-educated citizens." Please feel free to voice your thoughts on these or add to the list. Thanks! A Modern Proposal or Gulliver's Travels (excerpts) Huck Finn Scarlet Letter Odyssey Catch 22 Brave New World 1984 Canterbury Tales A play by Shakespeare (Julius Caesar, Macbeth, Taming of the Shrew, Hamlet?)
