I have been a junior high (7 & 8) librarian for 5 years now. We are going to be incorporating the 6th grade next year. My collection is not ready for this. (We haven't had any grade below 7 have access to this library for 20 years!) The budget for adding this grade level is not looking too positive at this point. With that in mind, I need help choosing additional fiction for this age group. If there are any great series you would recommend or author, please let me know. (For those of you who do AR...I have many books that currently dip into the upper 3s for my current students. By adding the 6th grade, would you recommend adding titles in the 2s and lower 3s?) I appreciate all the help this group gives!
