Greetings LM_NETters!

Last, but not least, I'm anxious to get to know all of you better!

My "roots" in library-land began in 1994 at the ERIC Clearinghouse on
Information and Technology at SU, Syracuse. Mike Eisenberg was the
ERIC/IT Clearinghouse Director at that time, and I was the ERIC/IT
publications coordinator/manager, responsible for production of ERIC/
IT annual monographs and digest series. I also helped to develop
marketing materials for AskERIC and GEM (Gateway to Educational
Materials).

One day, Mike asked if I'd look over a new newsletter he planned to
print for a special project called The Big6. The Big6 grew into a
full-time job for me, and I've learned a lot about information
literacy and the library world through my work at ERIC/IT and with
the Big6. I'm now Executive Manager for Big6 Associates on a full-
time basis which involves a role in most Big6 activities -- workshop
coordination, website management, eNewsletter editorial work, author
and liaison with Big6 partners, and central communications office.
It's a very rewarding job.

All in all, library-media professionals have influenced my work for
more than 13 years -- elementary, middle, high school, and LIS
professors who mentor students and aspiring librarians. I'm
inspired by the exciting, brilliant minds in the library world and
enjoy the challenges and triumphs associated with learning and
teaching library skills every day.

Currently, I work in isolation too. I understand how valuable it is
to stay connected to colleagues and friends online. Rest assured,
LM_NET and EL_Announce will continue to provide many of the same
services you depend on -- especially recipe day!! Did I mention
cooking is my hobby? Michelle, Blythe and I will work to keep LM_NET
focused on issues that are important to you. We also plan to keep
Mike and Peter nearby as advisors and hope they will be occasional
contributors to the online conversations as well. We know they
sincerely care about all of you!

So - here we go! Michelle, Blythe and I are ready to provide you the
best teacher-librarian listservs, LM_NET and EL_Announce, because you
deserve the best!

Sincerely,
Sue
