LM_NET Archive

To the LM_NET community, Peter and Mike:

I went to my favorite place ever, the Mat-Su school district in Alaska,
in 1989, and it was there I joined the LM_NET community. I have been on
and off the list since then and learned and grew with help from all of
you. I have not only occasionally felt humbled but also proud, mildly
shocked, entertained, enlightened, and incensed at some of the things
I've read, but always grateful for all of the knowledge I've gotten from
the list. One of the days I have looked forward to every year is recipe
day. I have a huge notebook filled with the recipes I've gotten and also
love the cookbook we made a few years ago (I would give credit to the
person who did all that work, but my memory is terrible, and the book is
at home). I use the recipes I've gotten from LM_NET, and one of the best
moments of my life was when Adam wrote to me and said he'd made a
delicious pie using my long-dead mom's recipe for pie crust.

This is my 33rd and last year of first an English career then five years
later a library career. I'm retiring at the end of the year and moving
to a home in North Dakota, my husband's birth state, where I'm going to
read and cook some more of those recipes I've not had time for during
the long years of work.

Please don't stop recipe day this year!

Thank you all for the years of help, thoughtfulness, and provocative
topics.

Subject: GEN: LM_NET and Its Growth 1992 - 2007 (and Thank You!)

Dear LM_NET Colleagues,

Thank you all so very much for your wonderful comments and messages of
appreciation that you have shared for Mike and myself. We are very, very
moved and deeply touched by your words, memories and expressions for us.

Some members have asked about the growth on LM_NET, so I am sharing an
edited version of the weekly report that I have been sendingto Mike and
myself each Monday morning since we began back LM_NET in June of 1992.

The comments accompanying each week's figures somehow connected to our
growth, issues we were dealing with at the time, or simply the world or
local or personal events affecting our lives. I hope you enjoy this set
of
numbers.
