Hello, all,

I have the Nancy Pearl Librarian Action Figure with amazing shushing action. She
stands on the pencil sharpener, ready to go into action. Like Alan, I like to keep
a pretty quiet library because it's the only place on campus where the students who
need a place to work without too many distractions can find it. If things get too
chatty I just mention that I'm going to get Ms. Pearl or I take her over to the
problem area and activate her. It's a fun way to remind people to be productive in
a way that allows others to be productive. (I'd give credit to the librarian I
stole that from, but I don't remember who that was.)

Thanks to everyone who responded. I do realize that this is something I have to
figure out for myself, but it was great to hear everyone's advice and different
take on the situation. I really just needed to know that I'm not the only one who
has to deal with this. Once again, LM_NET to the rescue!
