I would like to piggyback on this request.

while I am in a high school, we could use some low level books in Somalian or
Swahili or Farsi for students to practice reading with. my preference would be
that they would be bi-lingual. the low level books I happened to have look very
child-like, although the kids didn't seem to object. but they needed a dictionary
to use with it (and I had to search a bit to find those).

I sense a whole new avenue for an enterprising book dealer here!

thanks,

kate :)

Dear Brain Trust,

Seeing as my principal can't swing the funding to send me
abroad to browse bookstores *sigh*, I need help. I am in need of books in
the mother tongue of my student population. I am looking for the books that
my students would be reading if they were in their country of origin, not
just translations of popular English stories. I would like publishers or
companies that can provide MARC records if possible (Cataloging is hard as
it is, in another language? Ha!). As 34% of my population is Filipino,
Tagalog is my top need, although I would like books in Korean, Chinese,
Arabic, Vietnamese, Portuguese and others. Even just titles to look for
would be great.

Thanks!
