I am not trying to stir up a hornet's nest with this discussion. I am
just looking for suggestions and recommendations.

My teachers know that the school system discourages showing all of any
videotaped materials. They know that anything they show must fit with
their curriculum and must have a lesson plan. With this said, many of
them still want to use feature films as a teaching tool. I agree that
some of them do fit our curriculum very well. I just get a bit nervous
sometimes when a teacher wants to use some of these films.

So my question is-What makes a lesson plan for this type of material
adequate so that we are not violating any copyright laws?

I have some new, inexperienced teachers that I am trying to train in the
proper use of videotaped materials before they develop too many bad
habits. Some of them are under the impression that having students make
a list of unfamiliar words and then looking them up in a dictionary is
sufficient.

I also have club sponsors (such as Foreign Language, etc.) who want to
use some videotapes that will expand the students knowledge in their
after school meetings. What types of lessons are required for this type
of activity? Is this even legal?

I have been doing a fair amount of reading from several copyright
websites which have been helpful. At this point, I am looking for some
concrete ideas that I can present to my teachers.
