I try to read everyday on my job. How can I do my job if I haven't read any of the books? I have 4 study halls on Tuesday and Thursday that I have to babysit, so I get a lot done on those two days. I don't consider my reading at school any different than a teacher grading papers at school. And, yes, I read a lot at home, too. What do I read? I'm a PreK-12 librarian, so I read all of the new picture books that come in. I read all 20 of the state reading program books each year. I try to read at least one of every series that I am adding to the library so I can better direct students to it. I think reading is one of my biggest responsibilities and I don't feel the slightest bit sorry about doing it at school. I've even told my aide to read. She is also supposed to be helping kids find books, she needs to know what's in them.
