I am of two minds. First, it shows that most people see reading as
something they do as a pleasure time activity so they think I am relaxing
and having fun. Second, they don't understand that part of my job is
reading all those books even the ones I don't like. It takes some of the
fun out of reading when you have to read all those books even ones you
don't like. When the classroom teacher grades papers during the day I
don't walk by and say "you have time to grade papers, we have to find more
for you to teach." There is such a lack of undertanding about what we do
and the scope of our job that it's no wonder they think we sit in a hot
tub reading and eating bonbons all day.
