I love them, too. I accidentally "found" the 2nd one in our district. Hidden away
in the computer lab at a "rich" school that could afford any and everything, but no
one was using it. I am LMS at a poor school, but I was so intrigued!! I learned
to use it in one day, and created a district presentation/training. I wanted
everyone to know about these wonderful things!!

That was 6 years ago. Only two people came to that presentation. Our district
tech dept and vision has completely changed. Although our last bond issue brings 3
boards with projectors, mounted and installed, to every school. Even though there
was a vigorous application process for each installation at the schools and stiff
training requirements. I walk down the halls and see teachers using these boards
for little more than overhead projectors. I tell myself, "Give them time. Let
them live with it and discover the excellent uses." I'm not so sure though. Too
many seem to jump on the band wagon just so they can proudly claim, "I got one of
the ones in my school." I just wait to see how well this very expensive technology
will be used.

Remember, each set up could provide 2-3 student computers. THAT is what we need
computers in the hands of students. I'm waiting for that bond issue.

I have to disagree with David's assessment of SMART Boards. I have one in
the library and use it EVERY day. There are several of them in my
building and they have become THE technology tool to use. They grab the
students' attention. They are great for student and teacher
presentations. The interactivity gets everyone involved in the lesson.
SMART does an EXCELLENT job at providing resources for teachers. I
wouldn't want to teach without one.
