yes they can be a pile of junk. I have one in the library and love it but I had to take a great deal of time rewriting my lesson plans to include intellignet use of it. Then of course it is not mounted so I and the kids are consently tripping over the wheels, cords etc. And, of course, my porjector isn't mounted and I don't have a static computer to use it with I use a laptop (different one each time). And, I didn't get any training I had to read the instructions and figuere it out on my own. So the lesson is technology no matter how great can be a real bear to use in the classroom if the district hasn't thought through how it is going to be utilized. My experience is that most teachers don't want the hassle of technology poorly implemented. Or dealing with tech staff who are aloof and never have time to set up and maintain the equipment.
