Wise Ones, we are in the process of switching over to Destiny from Follett
Circulation Plus. For the next 3-4 weeks, we are having to use Follett Remote,
so please keep us in your kind thoughts!
My question for those of you who are using Destiny, is: how do you handle
cataloging? As we understand it (and we've not had the training yet) the first
one to record the cataloging information for a new book is essentially entering it
for everyone in the district. If that's the case, we want to make sure it's a
good record.
Is this the case? Is the first library to enter a new book the one that needs
to be sure it's a good, complete record?
Do you have a central cataloger or one librarian who does the new cataloging?
How well does this work--is there a delay in processing new books and getting
them on your shelves?
What problems would you point out to us to be on the watch for?
I know this system will give us a lot more options, but right now, we're kind of
stressing over losing some of our autonomy!
