This is a tough topic. On one hand I want to purchase the wonderful new books that
are out there for my k-12 school library. On the other hand, they are not
thoroughly using the nf books we have. The library has an open computer lab for
teachers to sign up and use with their classes. 95% of the time they are only
using the Internet. This year I have set up changes that ask teachers whether they
would like me to assist with their classes, hoping that they would use more of the
databases, books, and other great resources. It has improved a little, but not
much. So, now it is time to purchase new materials. With budget cuts and the use
of the non-fiction section, I have been "putting off" the ordering. This is tough.
We are suppose to offer a little of everything. We need books but want material
they are going to use. What to do? What will tomorrow bring? Where do I spend
the little money I have?
