Oh wise ones, I just received my lastest delivery from Junior Library Guild, and there is a book that I am wondering about. All the books I have received from JLG in the last 3 years have been perfect for my students. This year I added the middle grade graphic novels. The graphic novel I received today is Notes for a War Story by Gipi. Just glancing over it, it worries me some because it looks pretty violent. I checked reviews and the only one that I saw that suggests an age range is Booklist which recommends it for grades 10-12. The rest that I found say YA or nothing at all. I have always trusted JLG to send appropriate books for middle school, but I'm not sure about this one. I will read it, but I thought I would find out what you think. If you have this book, will you please contact me offlist and let me know if you think it is appropriate for a middle school (6-8) library? I would appreciate your thoughts on this.
