I'm really behind in my email but just had to add to this. I can have two classes at a time in the LMC. Some teachers are seem to have really "good" classes-- quiet, engaged, respectful. Some teachers just let their kids run wild, loud talking and most of the time not doing anything but chit chatting. I have also noticed that teachers will sometime make the "this is a library" announcement for some classes and not for others. They seem to know which sections of their classes need a reminder to stay on task and which ones don't. It really gets ugly when we have two loud classes at the same time ( 60+ kids and 10-15 virtual high school kids in a small room) or when I know that one of the teachers likes it quiet. My rule for talking is: if I can hear your plans for the weekend or the latest what he did to her-- you are too loud. I will generally just announce "Ladies and gentlemen, it is getting too loud in here. I can hear conversations that I don't think you want me to hear and we do have students here who need it quieter to work. " That usually helps for awhile except with those classes who have been given four weeks for do research for a three page paper!! ;>) Darlene Darlene Yasick Media Specialist Hopkins (MI) High School lib027yas@global.net -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
