Thank you to everyone who took the time to reply to my inquiry regarding
payments for lost/damaged books. I tried to thank everyone
individually, but I may have missed some.
The breakdown is this:
5 - money is kept in a petty cash account without district office
intervention
22 - district office has an account for such funds which the librarian
has access to.
12 - money is sent to district office for the general fund and is not
available to replace the books. Two people told me that they think this
is a NYS requirement. I'll have to investigate that further.
Since I've only been here a month, I'm not personally pushing the issue,
but I will share this data with the other district librarians.
