Hello Fellow Library Folks, If you are like me, you’re always looking for online resources that are free, reliable, and useful for school and home. I want to share with you a great website, The Internet Public Library. http://www.ipl.org/ This website, created and maintained by librarians, information specialists, and information science graduate students, is an online resource with subject collections (lists of annotated websites), pathfinders (guides for researching specific areas of interest), and an e-mail reference service called “ask a question”. In addition to the general reference area, there are separate areas specifically designed for kids: http://www.ipl.org/div/kidspace/ and teens: http://www.ipl.org/div/teen/ and cool projects such as the Teenspace Poetry Wiki, an open forum for teens to express themselves (with moderation by the IPL). I have been involved with the IPL for the past two semesters as part of my graduate work at Florida State University and have found it to be a great site and learning/teaching project. The web links are monitored and maintained, there are a group of dedicated people answering reference collections, and there are numerous projects occurring to add resources, pathfinders, and tools. I would highly recommend checking out the IPL and sharing this resource with your friends, colleagues, and students. Please add the Internet Public Library http://www.ipl.org/ to your Favorites and create a link to it from your website. It is a website that I am sure you’ll agree is a fabulous resource. ~Glynis Miller Mrs. Glynis Miller, Library Media Specialist Alburg Community Educational Center 14 North Main Street Alburgh, VT 05440 (802) 796-3573 glymill@gisu.org --------------------------------- Get easy, one-click access to your favorites.
